Banjarmasin, Indonesia. In a significant stride toward elevating the quality of health research and academic contribution, the Research and Community Service Unit (UPPM) of the Suaka Insan Health Institute recently concluded a highly successful week at the 2026 National Scientific Article Writing Workshop (PAINT), Batch 2. The event, held in Banjarmasin from July 21st to 24th, 2026, saw Suaka Insan scholars transform localized research data into four major scientific articles, now primed for publication in Indonesia’s most prestigious SINTA 1 and SINTA 2 indexed journals.
Hosted by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, specifically spearheaded by the Directorate of Research and Development Talent Fostering under the Directorate General of Research and Development, the workshop served as an intensive incubator for the nation’s brightest academic minds. Suaka Insan was among a highly exclusive cohort of only 30 regional higher education institutions invited to this prestigious event, which was collaboratively executed at the Universitas Islam Kalimantan Muhammad Arsyad Al-Banjari campus, with delegates immersed in a continuous learning environment at the Swiss-Belhotel Borneo.

The Suaka Insan delegation was led by the Head of UPPM, Ermeisi Er Unja, S.Kep., Ners., M.Kep., accompanied by distinguished colleagues Oktovin, S.Kep., Ners., M.Kep., Maria Frani Ayu Andari Dias, S.Kep., Ners., MAN, and Dewi Antika Sari, S.Kep., Ners., M.K.M. Their participation highlights a critical pivot for the Institute: moving beyond the mere collection of health data toward active, high-level dissemination that can influence national health policies and nursing practices.
“Participating in this workshop is not just about academic prestige; it is about ensuring that the vital research we conduct reaches the right audience and creates a tangible impact on public health,” noted a representative from the UPPM.
The grueling four-day agenda demanded rigorous analysis and adaptability. Following strict entry requirements, which mandated that all attendees arrive with drafted manuscripts targeting accredited national journals, the Suaka Insan delegates underwent intensive, multi-stage mentoring. The schedule transitioned from broad methodological reviews to strict, one-on-one manuscript evaluations with expert facilitators. By the final day, the team had engaged in deep independent revisions and finalized concrete action plans for immediate submission.
The immediate outcome, four finalized articles slated for top-tier SINTA publication, represents a substantial achievement. The Science and Technology Index (SINTA) represents the highest standard of academic publishing in Indonesia. Securing placement in SINTA 1 and 2 journals means this research will be widely accessible to policymakers, healthcare administrators, and fellow clinicians across the country.
This success at the Banjarmasin workshop occurs against a broader backdrop of global healthcare challenges. In an era where evidence-based practice is paramount, the need for robust, locally sourced, and internationally standardized research has never been greater. By translating clinical experiences and community health findings into rigorous scientific literature, Suaka Insan is actively contributing to the knowledge base required to build resilient health systems, both in South Kalimantan and throughout Indonesia. The Institute is demonstrating that high-impact research is not confined to global metropolises but is actively driven by dedicated scholars in regional hubs.
The dedication of Ermeisi Er Unja, Oktovin, Maria Frani Ayu Andari Dias, and Dewi Antika Sari serves as an inspiring model for nursing students and junior faculty at the Institute. It underscores the vital role that continuous education and rigorous academic writing play in the evolution of nursing as a premier scientific discipline.
As the Suaka Insan Health Institute continues to expand its research footprint, this milestone marks a clear trajectory toward greater academic influence and improved health outcomes. The Institute looks forward to the imminent publication of these articles and the resulting discourse they will inspire within the national healthcare community.
